iOS 6.x.x Jailbreak Progress Update

iOS 6.x.x Jailbreak Progress Update

iphonehacks.com | Jan 19th 2013

Few days back, planetbeing – member of the iPhone Dev team had revealed on reddit that he already had an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.2 running on iPhone 5.

He had also mentioned that iOS 6.1, which is expected to be released anytime soon may break a small part of it. But he noted that they had 4+ exploits and seemed quite confident would help in jailbreaking iOS 6.1.

planetbeing just posted an update on Twitter:

Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I’ll try to reward myself with a nap.

While he hasn’t provided any further details, it suggests that they’ve made progress in jailbreaking iOS 6.1. It’s also good to see pod2g who recently released an impressive DJ app for the iPad is working on the jailbreak again.

Update:

pod2g has just revealed via a tweet that they’ve found two new vulnerabilities yesterday.

. @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/

However, it looks like they still need to figure out a hack, which will allow them to release the jailbreak to the public.

According to security experts, Apple has made jailbreaking more difficult in iOS 6.1 by adding tougher protection. Apple has released four beta versions of iOS 6.1 and widely expected to release it anytime soon. As a golden rule, jailbreakers should avoid upgrading to iOS 6.1 when it is released.
